What to see in April

Oh, to be in England
Now that April’s there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm tree bole are in tiny leaf
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England – now
- Browning

Time to catch the scents of the spring bulbs, daffodils and hyacinths and admire the bright colours of the tulips contrasting with the pale greens of opening buds.

Birds are nesting in the garden hedges and ancient trees.  Frogs and newts are busy in the ponds.
